Established in 1983 we were known as 'The Capri 70 Owners Club' to differentiate from Ford's earlier 'Classic Capri Coupe'. The '70' indicated the production period from 1969 onward, but as sales continued well into the eighties it became meaningless. The public thought that '70' might refer to the cars top speed, the average age of the owner or the total number of members! So we became 'The Capri Owners Club'

As we entered 1987 it became more apparent that our club is regarded (and often referred to) as 'the mother club' of all the European Capri Clubs. Indeed large numbers of overseas enthusiasts are joining the club, hence a further update on the title, now known as 'The Capri Club International.

Scoop discoveries by Capri Club International members include the unearthing of a four-wheel drive Capri and the original prototype Tickford Capri. Club members supplies all the Capri's featured in the BBC 'Top Gear' programme focusing on the end of Capri production. Another member has shipped a genuine Zakspeed racing Capri into England.

Members have assisted with the writing of a comprehensive Capri restoration book, the building of a Cosworth four-wheel drive Capri, and much much more. Why is the Capri so popular with enthusiasts? It has to be sheer good looks and versatility. Under its skin there is no technical revolution, it may be powered by a 1300cc or 3100cc engine, making it the ideal drivers car. 'Frugal, no frills' or Fast n' Furious' the club caters for all models of the magical Capri Marque.
